Does anyone know the history of sky TV? Are audiences getting what they need? what about views on skysports?

I am writing an essay on sky sports. what opinions do people have?
Is it fair that people have to subscribe to sky?
should the audience have a choice?
Is it unfair that sky have monopolised the sports broadcasting industry?
Views for and against.

Is money ruining football- ie Chelsea. what about the smaller clubs?

Rupert Murdoch etc

Has the premiership been sown up?

Please help- I am very interested to hear your views

Regarding subscriptions to Sky Tv i have no qualms.I think on the whole Sky provide a good and varied service. What i do object to is having subscribed to Sky Sports, is having to pay extra to watch PREM PLUS etc.At £7 a game extra i think this out of order, once you subscibe to Sky Sports that fee should cover ALL games etc.Even the one off £50 package is still to expensive to some fans. After all the cameras are at all the grounds regardless of how many people have subscibed.

    1) Yes it is fair for people to subscribe to Sky. Sky aren’t publically funded like the BBC are. However their subscription prices are very high due to their monopoly on the industry.

should the audience have a choice?

    2) What choice would you give to the audience?

Is it unfair that sky have monopolised the sports broadcasting industry?

    3) It depends on your views. Monopolys can be good and bad. Sky Sports provide a good service and show all the big games. However this will soon be changing as Setanna has 2 of the 6 packages of 2007s Premiership matches.

    4) Yes. Teams can’t compete with the billions of Chelsea.

Has the premiership been sown up?

    5) No it has a bright and competetive future.
