  • How can I transfer recorded programs from my digital tv terminal to my computer?

Posted by admin on April 23rd, 2010 and filed under digital tv | 1 Comment »

I’m going to be getting a new digital tv terminal that has 80GB hard drive to store recorded programs. Is there a way I can transfer this to my computer so I don’t have to keep deleting programs to save space?

    Almost certainly not.

It really depeneds on the machine, but unless it has a USB port (most don’t) then you’re only real option is to ouput video to your PC (and then re-digitize it) or send it to a DVD recorder, then rip it on your PC and re-encode.

Another option is to remove the harddrive and attach it to your PC. Even then, chances are you won’t be able to read the drive. You’ll have to google your PVR model to find out what other people have done.
