BSKYB Sky 1 test card including a Videocrypt encryption test. This was recorded on Saturday, 2nd of November 1991 at 02:08 GMT from the Astra satellite at 19.2 east before Sky moved all its channels to the 28.5 east position. The transmission was in analogue PAL and without sound.

Sky moved its transponders to 28.5 east towards the end of 1999 and until early 2001. SkyDigital started early tests at 28.5 east at the end of 1998. Before those tests Sky was only analogue at 19.2 east.

Hi postafilms1, this clip is now positively identified to be recorded in 1991.
I was not recording much sat TV during late nineties as I was working abroad far away from my equipment. So most of my recordings are from the 80′s and early ninties. And anyway, this test card type, the so-called “Telefunken FuBK test card” (here without the circle) was widely used in Germany and many other countries since early 70′s! Cheers!

Hi 625line. You are right! After some detective work using an old colour TV set with teletext capability, I managed to decode the Skytext signal, and the date/time was exactly “Sat 02 Nov” and the time was 02:08 GMT. By looking at a calendar, the year that fits this date being a Saturday is 1991. The material was on a VHS tape with a lot of 1990 recordings, that’s why I assumed that it was from the same year! I have now corrected the title and the info text about the video. Thanks again
