I now own a HP digital camera that works just fine. But before digital came along, I had a Nikon film camera which I just loved. Everytime I see a professional, they are using a Nikon. To me digital can’t even compare to film but it’s nice to be able to see the pictures before they are developed. I have taken thousands of pictures over the years that are still on my SD cards. Don’t get me wrong my digital camera is great and I have developed hundreds of the pictures, but when using digital you just can’t stop at one picture.
Asking for an opinion between Nikon or Canon is like asking about religion. Both sides will argue until they fall unconcious. The truth is, both Nikon and Canon make fantastic D-SLR cameras.
If you owned a Nikon film SLR in the past and still have lenses, you already have a start on a Nikon kit. Almost all Nikon "F" mount lenses made will work on current Nikon digital SLR cameras. A recent exception is the Nikon D40 and D40x – they will autofocus only with Nikon "AF-S" lenses.
Canon, on the other hand, is as equally used by professionals as Nikon. They don’t have the decades of lens compatibility that Nikon does, but they do have a very developed hypersonic motor focusing system that they have used since the creation of the Canon "EF" lens mount. (Nikon uses their similar "AF-S" technology, but Canon did it first.)
Consider both brands equally and be sure to make your final decision standing in your local camera store with the cameras in your hands. Specifications and test reviews on the Web can only tell you so much. Eventually, you have to TRY the cameras and discover which one is for you.

Go to cable if you want fast connection
I often record programs and films and keep the videos for future viewing. I have heard that videos can’t record from a Freeview digi-box. Is this true? If so, what are my options for recording (and keeping) programs?
The best option is to go for a PVR, which is a box with a built-in hard drive on to which you record your programs. The very best and most expensive allow you to pass the recording on to other media.
You can record from freeview if the box has an output SCART socket and your recording device has an input SCART. You simply loop through to the television. You need a freeview box with a twin tuner if you want to watch and record different channels at the same time. All PVRs should have this. Alternatively if your telly has freeview built in you can watch and record different channels regardless of how many tuners your box has got.
Not many video recorders have a scart input- may I suggest swapping to a HDD/DVD combo?
We have just purchased a HDTV and the quality of the picture when run through the sky digibox is a little fuzzy. It is currently being run from scart to scart. The only other connection on the back of the digibox is an RS connection. Is there a connection that goes from HDMI to scart and would this improve the picture quality?
no not really, the non hd sky boxes only have analog outputs on them, no mater what you do the picture will always look fuzzy on a big lcd.
Your best bet would be to try to pick up a shy hd box on the cheap.
We have 2 digital tv’s and we need to know how to program our tv’s to receive the digital broadcasts.
If your TV set has a digital tuner just perform a channel scan and it will find the available digital broadcasts. If you’re getting good reception of analog stations you should have no trouble receiving digital.

i have an old sky dish from my sky+ its got a quad LNB two of which have cables connected to them, which were obvoiusly connected to my sky+ box.
Can i just connect them to a freesat box and it wil work? and could i connect the other two empty LNB sockets and have multiple tvs running freesat?
yes, it is the same satalite group/same location.
They tried to a few years ago and it didn’t work, bad luck with weather and a bad choice of some venues was to blame! i hope they do try some more because the racing is often better than Elite league!
Being from the UK I would like to see the UK sports channels, including those from BSkyB and especially when I have to be in Costa Rica for one year. Is it in any way possible, or is
No sorry the satellite footprint just doesnt cover that area, to receive english speaking channels your best bet is Panamsat which recieves americam feeds, unless there is something better out there , Have fun !
NBA.COM may do an online package like NFL.com does
hope it helps
